Location: Orlando, Florida
Duration: 12 hours
Escape the hustle and bustle of Orlando with a day trip to Clearwater Beach. Your relaxing day on Florida’s west coast comes with a lunch voucher and the option to join an additional activity on offer at Clearwater. You can upgrade to include a 1-hour speedboat ride aboard the ‘Sea Screamer’ or a 4-hour deep-sea fishing trip. Or simply hang out all day, enjoying miles of sugar-white sand and sparkling sea.
After pickup from your hotel, head to Florida’s west coast aboard your comfortable coach. During the bus ride, approximately 1.5 hours from Orlando to Clearwater, your driver will inform you about what you’ll find at Florida’s Gulf of Mexico. When you arrive, explore at your leisure – swim, sunbathe or take a walk – digging your toes into miles of soft, white sand at Clearwater Beach.
If you wish, rent a beach umbrella and chair, as well as snorkeling and other watersports equipment – all available on the beach. Browse the souvenir shops for T-shirts or postcards, or head down to Pier 60 and watch the pelicans gather around the fishermen’s daily catch.
When you’re hungry for lunch, simply use your voucher at the marina café across the street from the beach; you can eat there or enjoy a Clearwater Beach picnic. Alcoholic drinks, soda and water are sold separately.
In total, you’ll have about seven to eight hours in Clearwater, depending on traffic from Orlando. If you wish to upgrade your tour, choose from a speedboat ride aboard the Sea Screamer or go deep-sea fishing in the calm waters of the Gulf.
Clearwater Sea Screamer
Explore the Gulf of Mexico on a wild and exciting one-hour ride aboard the Sea Screamer — one of the largest speedboats in America! From Clearwater Beach, cruise past Clearwater Harbor and Sand Key Park as the captain shares interesting facts about the area. Then it’s off to the open waters for an exhilarating ride!
Hold onto your hat as the boat screams past resorts and beaches. With its dual twin turbo-charged diesel engines, the 72-foot (22-meter) Sea Screamer reaches speeds up to 35 miles (56 km) per hour. As you zip along the shoreline, look out for bottlenose dolphins that leap in and out of the wake.
Deep-Sea Fishing
Cruise from Clearwater Beach, known for its calm sea conditions, and go deep-sea fishing for approximately four hours at some of Florida’s most productive natural reefs. Amid open waters in the Gulf of Mexico, expect to catch a variety of reef fish including gray snapper, sea bass, tarpon, jacks and groupers.
This family-friendly trip in the sport-fishing capital is perfect for the experienced fisherman or first-timer (the crew will show you how to use all equipment). You can choose to catch and release, or bring a cooler if you want to keep your catch! There will be someone on hand to clean the fish.
